Troubleshooting

Actuator troubleshooting guide:

Diagnose phase loss, motor faults, control errors, and resolve common operational issues.

Troubleshooting Guide

1. Phase Loss

The phase loss in the actuator can be categorized into static and dynamic (movement) types.
In “Local Control” mode, if the phase loss alarm appears immediately after operation, it indicates a static phase loss;
if it appears after a 1–2 second delay, it indicates a dynamic phase loss.

1.1 Static Phase Loss – Causes and Solutions

  • Cause 1: One phase of the three-phase power supply is missing.
Solution: Check the voltage at the actuator’s terminal box and restore the missing phase.

  • Cause 2: Loose or faulty internal wiring in the actuator.
Solution: Reconnect and secure the internal wiring.

  • Cause 3: Component failure on the actuator’s power board.
    Solution: Replace the power board.

1.2 Dynamic Phase Loss – Causes and Solutions

  • Cause 1: Loose or faulty internal wiring in the actuator.
Solution: Reconnect and secure the wiring.

  • Cause 2: Damaged AC contactor inside the actuator.
    Solution: Replace the AC contactor.

  • Cause 3: Actuator motor failure.
    Solution: Replace the motor.

  • Cause 4: Component failure on the actuator’s power board.
    Solution: Replace the power board.

2. Motor Stalled

  • Cause 1: The electric/manual clutch is stuck or jammed.
Solution: Use the Setting Tool to reset the actuator. Then operate the actuator electrically while turning the handwheel to ensure the clutch is fully engaged in the electric mode.

  • Cause 2: Faulty AC contactor.
    Solution: Replace the AC contactor.

3. Power Failure

  • Cause 1: External power supply failure.
Solution: Inspect the user’s power source and resolve any faults.

  • Cause 2: Blown fuse on the actuator’s power board.
    Solution: Replace the fuse.

  • Cause 3: Transformer failure in the actuator.
    Solution: Replace the transformer.

  • Cause 4: Internal wiring issues.
Solution: Reconnect or repair the internal wiring.

4. Overtemperature

  • Cause: Continuous motor operation causes the temperature to exceed 130°C.
Solution: Stop the motor and wait until the temperature drops below 90°C before resuming operation.

5. Close Torque Overload

  • Cause 1: The torque protection setting is too low.
Solution: Use the Setting Tool to increase the torque protection value.

  • Cause 2: The selected actuator model is not suitable for the on-site conditions.
Solution: Replace the actuator with an appropriate model.

  • Cause 3: External obstruction prevents normal actuator operation.
Solution: Inspect and remove any external interference.

6. Open Torque Overload

  • Causes and solutions are the same as for Close Torque Overload.

7. Valve Position Overrun

  • Cause: The actuator has lost its valve position calibration.
Solution: Use the Setting Tool to reset the actuator and reconfigure the open and close limit positions.

8. Valve Position Underrun

  • Causes and solutions are the same as for Valve Position Overrun.

9. Remote Control Not Functional

  • Cause 1: The mode selector knob (red) is not set to the “Remote” position.
Solution: Turn the knob to the “Remote” position.

  • Cause 2: Malfunction of the selector knob control board.
Solution: Replace the knob control board.

  • Cause 3: Incorrect or faulty wiring in the terminal box.
Solution: Inspect and correct the wiring connections.

10. Abnormal Display After Power-On

  • Cause: The actuator was not properly reset after powering on.
    Solution:

    • Step 1: Reset the actuator using the Setting Tool.

    • Step 2: Power off the actuator, remove the battery, wait 15–20 minutes, and power on again.

    • Step 3: Replace the main control board if the issue persists.

11. External Oil Leakage

  • Cause: The oil plug screw is loose.
Solution: Tighten the screw firmly and clean the oil residue.
